Hello Team OncoSlayers! We were originally founded at the beginning of the Anti-Cancer Challenge in 2017. Started by the Cancer Research Institute's T32 Training Grant Trainees, this team continues to be the official team of the Cancer Research Institute. Our captains are comprised of graduate students who are vested in fundraising and rallying interest in our team.
The name came from "onco" meaning "relating to tumors; cancer", and "slayer" meaning "someone who kills a person or animal in a violent way". The goal of this team is to raise funds to support the amazing research going into eradicating cancer at UC Irvine. We want cancer to be gone so we continue to "fight cancer with research" and we welcome you to join us.
The OncoSlayer welcome anyone to join. We include but are not limited to Cancer Biology T32 trainees, SOM graduate students, Sprague Hall Researchers, CRI affiliated faculty members, CRI YSFP high school students and the CRI administrative team.
Please email me at email@example.com if you would like to be added to the OncoSlayer list-serv. As fundraising events arise, we will post them in Sprague Hall and share with the list-serv.
Please help us support the UCI Anti-Cancer Challenge by making a contribution to our team and sharing this page with your family and friends. 100% of your contribution will support UCI cancer researchers who conduct promising pilot studies and early phase clinical trials that can help prevent, treat and cure cancer – and save lives. Together, we can make a difference!
